Galería de las Misiones is pleased to announce its participation in ARCO 2019 with a booth focused on the artistic avant garde movements in the River Plate region in the decades of 1940s and 1950s.
The gallery will be showing artworks of artists that participated in the The School of the South / TTG (Montevideo) and in the Madí group (Buenas Aires) as two of the main groups that their experimentation in the 1940's will influence on greater or lesser degrees the geometric abstraction movements that pop up in Latin America in the 1950's.
Finally there will be artworks from José Pedro Costigliolo and Maria Freire, co-founders of the Non Figurative Art Group that was established in Montevideo in 1952.
